Description
Kangunu is one of the most respected washing station factories in the region for its consistently clean and complex coffees. This washing station is roughly at 1,850 meters above sea level and surrounded by many smallholder farms that grow primarily SL28 and SL24 varieties. These coffees are shade grown in volcanic soil. This season there were perfect conditions with cool nights and the perfect amount of rainfall to produce this high level coffee with clarity and brightness.
Thanks to our partners, Dormans coffee labs in Nairobi, for helping us source this coffee. They always send us samples of all the top scoring lots for us to select from. We are hoping to be able to travel to the cupping lab this year to cup this upcoming harvest.
Kangunu stood out to us with its classic Kenyan profile with bright acidity and intensity. We roast it light with a good amount of development time to fully develop these larger sized beans. The profile is a balance of high heat, but controlled time.
